Rocky View County wraps around Calgary on three sides, a sprawling rural municipal district where the prairie rolls up into the Rocky Mountain foothills. Its golf courses are scattered among hamlets like Balzac, Langdon, Bearspaw, and Springbank — tucked into creek valleys, ranch country, and open grassland with the mountains rising on the western horizon. Because the county is so large and varied, golfers find everything from mature parkland layouts to modern destination courses carved into rugged foothill terrain, all within a 20 to 40 minute drive of downtown Calgary. Long daylight hours and the region's famous Chinook winds make it one of the most rewarding rural golf pockets in Alberta.

HeatherGlen Golf Course is a 27-hole public facility set in a quiet, wooded landscape just northeast of Calgary in Rocky View County. Originally built in 1980 and expanded in 1999, the property features three distinct nines — the Creek, Grove, and Hills — woven around 17 natural ponds and mature stands of trees. The standard 18-hole routing plays to a par 72 of roughly 6,500 to 6,700 yards, offering a mix of tree-lined fairways, water carries, and open prairie views out toward the Rockies. Its easy access from the city and well-maintained conditioning make it a popular everyday stop for Calgary-area golfers.

Dancing Bull is one of two 18-hole championship courses at Serenity Golf Club, located southeast of Calgary in Rocky View County. Designed by renowned architect Gary Browning and opened in 2017, this par-72 layout plays to 6,815 yards and carves through 50-foot high aspen and poplar forest. Named for a family of moose that lingered on-site during construction, Dancing Bull offers a scenic, tree-lined routing with quick, challenging greens. A modern clubhouse with panoramic patio dining rounds out the experience.
