Devon Golf & Conference Centre first opened in 1954 as a nine-hole track built for oil workers tied to the historic Leduc No. 1 discovery, and was expanded to a full 18 in 1970. The par-70 championship layout, widely credited to Stanley Thompson design influence, is routed through the North Saskatchewan River valley with narrow, tree-lined fairways and fast, undulating greens that reward accuracy over raw distance. From the white tees it plays just under 5,600 yards, but the elevation changes and mature forest canopy make every hole feel longer than the scorecard suggests. An adjoining conference centre and the nearby University of Alberta Botanic Garden round out one of the more scenic golf destinations within a half-hour of Edmonton.
