The Old Course at Knollwood Golf Club traces its roots to 1968, when Jack Harris — one of Canada's most respected golf course superintendents, formerly of Hamilton Golf and Country Club — purchased a 50-acre farm in Ancaster and began shaping a layout by hand with his sons. Opening in 1970 as a nine-hole course, it grew over time into a full 18-hole, par-72 experience featuring thousands of mature trees planted by the founding family. Set amid the natural topography of southern Ontario, the course plays through wooded corridors and rolling terrain in a traditional style that honours the heritage of Ontario's classic layouts. It forms one half of Knollwood's 36-hole facility, offering a character distinctly different from the club's newer second course.
